The field of conversational artificial intelligence has seen rapid advances in recent years. Two of the most talked-about conversational AI systems right now are Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. These natural language processing models are able to engage in impressively human-like conversations and provide remarkably coherent responses. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at Claude and ChatGPT, comparing and contrasting some of their key capabilities.

Conversational Ability

Both Claude and ChatGPT are built on large language models that have been trained on massive text datasets crawled from the internet. This allows them to carry on intelligent and nuanced conversations across a wide range of topics. However, there are some differences in their conversational styles.

ChatGPT tends to give more textbook-like responses, while Claude comes across as more casual and relatable. Claude appears better able to understand context and have a continuous, flowing dialogue. Its responses are often wittier and more conversational than ChatGPT’s. Anthropic developed Claude with a technique called constitutional AI to make it safer and more honest compared to other large language models.
